Course benefits & Fee - why wait?
The strong link between course learning and your work practice creates relevant, enduring and transferable outcomes.
Each on-line course requires approximately 20 hours of your time in total, over whatever period suits you.
Course fees are a standard £495 for each 20-hr module. This is equivalent time-wise to 3 x full-day workshops and the learning is much richer than far more expensive three-day workshops.
The courses feature the distinctive strengths of The Open University from its years of expertise in work-based learning with Senior Executives, including:
- the flexibility to complete the module within your own timescales
- access to an electronic forum to share learning with other professionals
- the ability to bring what you have learned into the office the next day and instantly apply it to your assignment
- All materials, activities and support online - whenever suits you
- Convenient one to two hour chunks to help you keep pace with your work patterns
- Instantly apply everything you learn to your work , including completion of a work-based activity
- Support provided by expert learning adviser who can answer questions and help you relate the course to your specific needs.
- Successful completion will result in an OU/IMA Institute certificate of course completion. You can use this to demonstrate your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity to the IMA Institute or other professional body to which you belong.
Entry
Although there are no formal academic requirements to study any of our CPD courses, you are expected to have some experience in the field and the courses assume a familiarity with the subject.
For each course you can register and begin at any time during the life of the course. You can study at your own pace and submit your work-based activity at any date before the final submission date for the course. Information about the final submission date is available when you register for a course.
If you have additional requirements
The course is delivered wholly online. Learners who use screen readers or who cannot use a mouse will not be able to access some course material or some course activities without assistance. Written transcripts of the audio interviews are available from the OU website (via the IMA Institute link).
What's included
All learning materials, exercises, study support and work-based activity are delivered entirely online.
You will need
A computer and access to the internet. You will also need to be a member of the IMA Institute and sign-in on-line.
Work-based activity
The work-based activity for each course involves the preparation of a presentation, report or personal development plan based on the key activities undertaken throughout the course. Completed at the end of the course, an expert Learning Adviser will provide coaching feedback on your work.
This will allow you to reflect on your learning and how to use it in your professional work. The activity is suitably flexible to be appropriate for interim managers who may only have limited time in an organisation whilst they are undertaking a course.
Interim managers will find it helpful to aim to complete a course and its work-based activity whilst working within one client organisation.
