One Day Induction Workshop
Date: 14th, September 2010 in London -CCT Venues-Barbican, Aldersgate House, 135-137, Aldersgate Street, London, EC1A 4JA
This was so useful. Gaining a deep insight into the Industry and how best to target and market my skills for this market were vitally important tools. Meeting other people and the opportunity to ask any and all questions were added benefits. I initially thought that I could not afford the day, but it was money so very well spent. Fantastic! Thank you.
Lorraine Smith ~ ex-Marketing Executive for Barclays Investments.

This unique workshop provides Executives and Managers looking at Interim Management for the first time with the vital information they need to succeed in this career. It goes much further than simply presenting facts about the market place (which is where most other 'workshops' stop).
It helps delegates understand the intricacies of the different players in the industry, and provides delegates with essential tips and proven techniques to make an informed decision about their career choice and, for those who decide to do so, how to make a fast and successful start in Interim Management. It also critically provides you with excellent advice on how to market yourself to this unique industry.
It is a highly-interactive workshop where delegates have every opportunity to have their questions and concerns answered by two, fully-trained and highly experienced facilitators (experienced trainers and interim managers), who have facilitated over 100 of these workshops.
If you want to find out if Interim Management is for you and / or how to succeed quickly and avoid many costly and time consuming mistakes, this workshop is a must (read the quotes from delegates who have benefited).
Note: You do not need to be a member of the IMA Institute to attend, although there are subsequent membership discounts available to workshop delegates (see Support)
The self-marketing aspects of this interactive workshop have proven extremely valuable to interims who are experiencing prolonged periods in-between assignments and/or who have not previously operated outside of their own network or sector.
Understanding how to take advantage of the different routes to market, how to pitch your value to clients in terms of 'problems solved', how to construct your business letters and CV to set yourself ahead of the rest, are all skills unique to this market which are covered by the workshop.
The interactive nature of the workshop allows delegates of all experience levels to gain a fresh understanding and approach to marketing themselves more effectively.
Thank you for the certificate. I found the workshop both well organised and very useful. I really appreciated the energy, enthusiasm and professionalism with which the facilitators presented the subject. I had done some research on the subject, but seeing and hearing the facilitators present their material and participating in the discussions which took place with the group really made the subject come alive for me. I feel I now have a much better understanding of what interim management really is about and feel both optimistic and enthusiastic about starting my own business. Thanks!
Russell ~ Vice President, R&D Beverages
I did not realise just how complex this market place was. Thanks to the workshop I believe that I am in a much better position to save time and money in getting myself established.
Charles - International Finance Director for Swiss Building Company
Thanks for the certificate of completion following the workshop. The workshop was very good value from my point of view - and standards are particularly high when paying for oneself! Good to meet other people who are also at a crossroads. Thanks for a well run event.
Andrew - Public sector MD for Healthcare plc
Working out my value proposition was especially helpful. It has made me seriously consider my options. Thank you for an excellent day.
Claire - Retail and Logistics Manager for Boots
Thanks for the certificate and the workshop. By the way, it was a great workshop @ a good price with superb trainers (and this, coming from a fellow trainer, is praise indeed).
Karen - National Training Manager in Retail Financial Services
The latest Ipsos MORI industry surveys are used to provide delegates with up-to-date information on interim rates, most sought after job functions by clients (public and private sector), most popular type of interim assignments, routes to market , the skills and knowledge required and sought by clients, the role of providers, important differences between interim management, consultancy and contracting, how to marshal and utilise your own network, plus understanding core competencies essential for successful Interim Managers, and so forth.
The workshop also covers setting yourself up in business for this market, legislation to be aware of, and much more.
Fast-track your new career by learning proven techniques and tools of how to market yourself in this complex industry; Understanding how to take advantage of the different routes to market, how to pitch your value to clients in terms of 'problems solved', how to construct your business letters and CV to set yourself ahead of the rest, how to understand and exploit routes to market, and how to look for new work whilst still on an assignment, are all skills unique to this market which are covered by the workshop. The interactive nature of the workshop allows delegates of all experience levels to gain a fresh understanding and approach to marketing themselves more effectively.
Note: Whilst aimed primarily at Interim Management, many of these self-marketing skills and tools are also directly applicable when seeking permanent employment and will be invaluable even to those who subsequently decide to pursue full-time positions.
Examine the skills and techniques required to succeed in this industry. You may already be a successful (permanent employment) manager, but the speed and approach needed to interim management roles is almost certainly different to anything you have previously experienced. Learn the art and necessity of how to diagnose underlying issues rapidly on entry into a new assignment, how to (re) negotiate your terms of reference, how to harness support, sometimes in hostile environments, and how to win assignments at those initial business meetings in the first place.
Learn also, critically, what you are supposed to accomplish in that first vital week!
Workshops run from 10am to 5.30pm (registration is from 9.30am) with lunch and tea breaks interspaced to allow networking among delegates and with facilitators.
Critically, the workshop contains several individual and group sessions, where delegates are able to begin work on key aspects of personal marketing, such as value propositions and construction of CV's and so forth. Delegates are also encouraged to ask questions and participate in group discussions throughout the day.
Note: Numbers of delegates are kept to a maximum of 18, in order to enable delegates, to ask their questions and concerns, and to fully engage with each other and with the facilitators and guest speakers.
Workshops are available every month in central London in a fully equipped conference and training centre. You can see details of the venue, including address and map at www.cctvenues.co.uk (held at the Smithfield site near Farringdon)
Book a place early, on one of our next available courses below as we limit numbers to a maximum 18 delegates per workshop.
Note: Fees are recoverable as part of the business expenses of your new business, within 6 months of the workshop date. (VAT will be added to these prices at checkout):
There are two highly experienced facilitators delivering this workshop, both of whom are Interim Managers; one of whom was the Industry champion for the Interim Management Association and has worked for a number of years as an Interim Manager as well as a Service Provider to the Industry. He has also recently received his Doctorate, based largely on the study of Interim Management.
The other is a master facilitator who has facilitated meetings and training workshops across both the private and public sectors and who has lead over 100 of these workshops. They are supported by an expert in the area of company formation for Interims, providing an in-depth awareness of key matters relating to establishing and running your own limited company successfully.
Additionally, delegates will benefit from having the experience and in-sights of a leading IMA Provider who will present their view of what is required to succeed in this specialist market area from the provider's perspective, and who will also be available for questions.
The fee includes materials, CD-ROM with slides from the day, and a full listing of IMA service providers, including what areas they specialise in, refreshments throughout the day, and an excellent hot and cold buffet lunch. The fee is payable in advance as a means of securing your place on the programme via on-line payment at the point of registration. You will be sent confirmation and joining instructions immediately on payment.
Please note that if for any reason you cannot make your confirmed workshop, you will have the opportunity to attend a subsequent workshop, subject to availability of space and to a further small postponement fee of £60. This additional fee is not required if you let us know of your desire to postpone at least 7 days prior to the date of your workshop.

Over 1400 Executives and senior managers have already attended one of the 100+ workshops we have run over the last three years. Delegates, typically aged between 30 and 60, come from both the public and private sectors and from all functions and disciplines
We have also had a number of oversees participants, seeking to gain knowledge and skills to either break into the UK market or to launch into Interim Management in their own countries. Without exception, delegates have found the experience and knowledge gained on the workshop to be invaluable in both helping them determine whether they can succeed in this career and also, should they then decide to do so, how to make a fast and successful start.
The agenda of the day sets out the main areas to be covered with approximate times, but the dynamics of the group will determine, to some extent, the time spent on respective areas.

Extensive independently-validated research by Saville Consulting in conjunction with the IMA Institute has identified competencies that successful interim managers excel in. We identify and talk about the importance of these core competencies during the workshop. If you subsequently join the IMA Institute you are then also able to take a personal test to benchmark your potential interim skills against this model of successful interim managers and to access development support and one to one coaching.
To take the 12 minute questionnaire, please click here.
Delegates will receive via email a Certificate of Completion within one week of attendance on the workshop.
This certificate is the currency you can use to 'buy' time with provider members of the Interim Management Association. Simply forward this certificate to the providers of your choice (list given on the CD Rom at the end of the course) and the providers have guaranteed to have a business conversation with you to discuss your situation. This will move you to the head of the queue in terms of the many interims trying to establish contact with these senior, specialist recruitment houses.
As a course participant, and as a subsequent member of the IMA Institute, you gain priority access to the leading recruitment specialists in this industry. Provider members of the Interim Management Association (IMA), who support this course, will grant you telephone or face-to-face interviews on presentation of your Certificate of Completion.
Getting to see these high-end providers can sometimes be difficult given the many hundreds of requests they receive. Simply sending your CV to all will completely miss the mark. Beat the queue and have those meaningful business conversations with the right people in the industry. They are potentially one of your key routes to market.
Note: An industry-leading provider company will also be present at the workshop, presenting their view of what is required to succeed in this specialist market area and what clients are looking for in interims. They will also be available to answer your questions.
The IMA Institute is the dedicated membership organisation for career Interim Managers offering a range of quality benefits and development support. Delegates who decide to pursue a career in this discipline are entitled to a special 10% discount off their first year's (associate) membership fees, in recognition of their commitment to the profession demonstrated by attending the workshop.
This offer applies for up to 14 days post attendance at a workshop and the special discount code will be in the post-workshop email confirmation of attendance.
